Momma Update

Mom got out of bed and walked around the nurse's station yesterday morning! We had told her it would be good if she could just go to the door of her room and back, but by golly, she is determined! She is just doing amazingly well, so I left around 3:30 in the afternoon and came home. She will be in the hospital 5-6 days, I will be going back when she is released. She wanted to be sure that I told ya'll how much she appreciates all the prayers and positive thoughts that have been sent her way. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Good News!!!

I am so sorry to be this late posting, but it has been one wild and crazy day! Can you believe a big city hospital with no WiFi? Well, I was stuck in one today! As much as I hate to, I may have to break down and get a wireless card so that I won't be stuck in a situation like this again.
They didn't take Mom into surgery until 11:55. They told us it would take at least two hours. At 1:00 a nurse came out and said ya'll need to come to the consult room so the doctor can speak to you. We were all pretty freaked out, thinking the worst, but when he came in he said that everything went much more smoothly than they had expected, that he had got it all and there was no evidence that it had spread. Thank you, Jesus! There IS power in prayer.
When I finally left the hospital at 7:00 PM, Mom was speaking coherently (in spite of the morphine!) and asking for a rib eye steak, rare. It will be several weeks till she can have solid food, but you can bet when she gets the go ahead there will be one whopping rare rib eye waiting for her!
There are not enough words to express the gratitude that I have for everyone that took the time to say a prayer for my Momma. Well done, ya'll!
P.S. When I printed off all the prayers and well wishes it was 3 pages and I took it to the hospital. Momma has it on her bedside table and has informed all of the nurses that she has people all over the world looking out for her! Thank ya'll SOOO much!!!

The Schedule

Well, I had thought I would take off on the 3 hour trip south tonight, but I kept finding more stuff that needed to be done, because although I plan to be back on Thursday, I wanted to take care of everything with a deadline through Friday just in case. Now it's 6:30 PM, and I haven't left the office yet, so I will just take off first thing in the morning. Mom's surgery is scheduled for 10:00 AM Central Time. It will probably take several hours, but I am taking my laptop to the hospital with me, I will post an update as soon as I know anything. I printed out a list of everyone's thoughts and prayers that were left to take and give to Mom. I'm sure this will really lift her spirits. She is in awe of the way the digital scrap community gives support to it's members. She has told everyone that people all over the world are praying for her, so she knows it's all going to be fine. Many, many thanks to those that took a few seconds to say a prayer or leave positive thoughts. It means more to us than you could ever know.
Great big Texas hugs,
Vicki

Now I Need Something From Ya'll

If you are not even a semi-religious person you may want to pass on this post. I have a great faith in the power of prayer, and I am asking for your help. I just found out on Thursday that my Mom has colon cancer. She will have surgery 02/11/09. Please, please say a prayer for her. The power of prayer is an amazing thing. Matt the Brat was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 8 months. I saw it for myself on the CT scan. I held him in my lap all night and prayed for my baby. The next day when they did the scan before his scheduled surgery, there was nothing there. The pediatric neurologist said that he had no explanation except that is was a miracle. Matt is about to celebrate his 30th birthday. Therefore, I KNOW that prayer works.
Please remember my Mom in your prayers. Her name is LaVerne, I need all the help I can get.

My Blue Valentine Stuff

Today for your scrapping pleasure, I present the "My Blue Valentine" stuff to go with the papers from yesterday. Click on the images to zoom in and get a better idea of the detail. What I had in mind when I started this was to create something that you could use to scrap "lovey" guy pages without going overboard on the foo-foo. I made the first wood element, and then kinda' got carried away! In fact, there are a couple of things that I am still working on, they're just not quite right yet, if I can ever get them the way I want, we'll have an add-on! Heck, I might even go all the way and complete the alpha, I realized last night I had made almost half of the letters to create the word art. LOL! As usual, most items are on the large side, so you may scale to your preference. Does this bother anyone? I hate it when I find the perfect element but it is smaller than what I would like. You can go down, but not up! Password is: woody Anyway, I hope I accomplished what I set out out do, I would appreciate any feedback that ya'll care to submit.

My Blue Valentine

There is such a plethora of red and pink in scrapland right now, I thought I would do a little something different. I bought some new toys from Kim B. and Atomic Cupcake, started playing around, and everything just came together into this "not your ordinary" Valentine kit. Today I have the papers for ya'll, and tomorrow we'll get woody! (hint, hint!) I think ya'll will like this one, I know I was extremely pleased with how the elements turned out. Sometimes I just amaze myself! ROTFL!!! Password is: blue I don't have the sucky preview done for the stuff yet, so I can't give ya'll a sneek peek, but be sure to come back tomorrow!

I'm on a Roll Now!!!

Just a quick post to toot my own horn! The LO that I created with Vicki P.'s "Happy Days" kit (see January 13th post) was picked as Layout of the Week at DSO! Woo-hoo for me! First being published on Kim B.'s blog, and now LOTW, I am on a roll! I was so excited when I received the email from Lynn, I almost peed my pants! ROTFL!
Due to Vicki P.'s trip to the States for CHA, there is no kit release this week. I do have a little something in the works, I will try my best to get it finished up and to ya'll this week.
Until then, Happy Scrapping!
Hugs,
Vicki (who is once again doing the Happy Dance all over her blog)
