No, Lizanne, I haven't been on vacation (I wish!!!!). Unfortunately my real job (the one that allows me to live in the style I have become accustomed to) has interfered with a vengeance! I have been working 60+ hours a week just trying to keep my head above water. I haven't even been to the casino since September, and anyway you look at it that is just WRONG!!! I did however manage to eek out a fall kit, I call it "Happy Fall Ya'll". Chunk it in your cart right here. Of course I couldn't leave ya'll without a little gifty, so here's a little taste. This one has been in the works for a while, I wanted to make a kit to help ya'll scrap some guy pages, as it seems that there is a serious lack of that in digiland. What I ended up with is not really a manly man kit, (ie: tools, cars, etc...) but one that I think looks great for scrapping your guy pics, but can also be used for fall photos and such. The Plain Digital Wrapper CT have been giving it a whirl, and it seems to be working, lol. I call it "My Guy" and it's on sale now for $4.50.

Well, howdy to all of ya'll ! I've been busy, busy, busy. Pretty much the large part of July scrapping was taken up with the Summer Get-Away competition at Digi Scrapbook Mania. Good golly molly, I won!!!! I have never entered this type of competition before, as it usually takes me days to complete a page, and I figured the pressure would be a real mojo killer. There were so many awesome scrappers entered, and I was inspired to create some of my best LO's ever. I completed the required LO's, and went on a mini vacay to San Antonio. The results weren't supposed to be posted until August 1st, so I was totally blown away when I logged in and found out I had won the whole danged thing! Stay tuned, loyal readers, I have a color challenge mini kit that will be uploaded shortly!

Treading Water...

and just barely keeping my head above the waves, lol. Ya'll know how it goes when you come back from vacation, right? You have to try and catch up with a weeks worth of of work while still trying to keep up with the mountains of paper that arrive on your desk every single day without fail. Now, let's make it worse. Two days after I got back from South Padre, Mel the girl wonder secretary left on her vacation. As soon as she got back the Boss Man left to go out of the country, which leaves yours truly in charge of the whole store. He usually takes care of paying half the bills, in addition to keeping up with the tire orders and inventory so now all of that is on my plate too. Now throw in dealing with the bozos from our other store and resisting the urge to fire everyone and start from scratch, the fact that PSCS5 and Vista don't seem to play together very well (my computer is constantly crashing and I haven't had the time to fix it) and you'll get an idea of where I'm at. Can we say stressed to the max? Uhmm hmm...I thought so.

Anyway, I donned my big girl panties this morning and put together a mini for KimBob's Color Challenge. I hope ya'll enjoy today's little gifty. FYI... I used Jodiann's "Get Bent" style for the frame. They are just too cool!

A Blast From The Past!!!

Several months ago I had to make one of the hardest decisions ever in my digi-life. Yep, I couldn't keep up, so I had to resign from Vicki Parker's CT. It was tough, but I knew I could no longer keep up with the requirements, and that was not fair to her. However, when I left I told her that if she ever had a pink foo-foo girly kit that I would love to do a guest CT spot. Imagine my surprise when I received an email invite earlier this week with a preview to this gorgeous new kit, Doodle Happy! WhooHoo!!! Just the thing I needed, since I haven't scrapped a page in weeks and I had brand new pics of Princess Natalie on her first beach trip! My life is pretty much a train wreck right now... work is absolutely crazy (as usual), Mr. MoJo has taken a hike, the relaxing vacation turned out to be not so relaxing, and well...you get the idea. Okay, I'm 'gonna start from the bottom and work up. The pirate site has removed my stuff, but let me tell ya'll, this one is big and I am sure they will do it again, it's going to take constant vigilance.

BTW...do ya'll have some kind of ESP or do you just know me too well? Most of the comments have mentioned that I need to take a beach vacation. Well guess what? Way back in March I rented a house on South Padre Island for a week starting June 1st. Yep, no slogging all over Disney this year for Nana, I will be relaxing on the beach with margarita in hand, a true vacation! I actually started planning on New Year's Day, I knew I wanted to rent a beach house, cause that is one of the things on my croak list, and I really need some down time. I was waffling around between Gulf Shores Alabama and South Padre. In light of the recent developments in the Gulf I am so glad I chose South Padre! Here's a little looky at where I will be come June 1st.

Wanna Dig Around In Granny's Trunk?

I finally have a new kit available in my store at Plain Digital Wrapper! This is one that has been knocking around in my head for some time, I actually started working on it about three months ago, then Mr. Mojo took a hike, things got crazy, I got the gout and it went on the back burner. I envisioned a kit that would be good for heritage type pages, but would still be versatile enough to use for the everyday type pages that I love so much. I hope I have achieved what I set out to accomplish, let me know what ya'll think. I call it Granny's Trunk. I don't know about ya'll, but I had a blast rooting around in my grandmother's cedar chest when I was a kid and seeing some seemingly insignificant piece of memorabilia and wondering just what it meant. Anyway, I digress, but that was the general feeling I was shooting for here. Once again I have separated it out, so that you can get just the stuffies or papers or the whole danged thing if you so feel inclined. If you do decide to go for broke and get the stuffies along with the matts and clusters pack you can grab the papers for free! Since I am still kind of new to all of this, I do appreciate the feedback that ya'll provide. Is this type of kit relevant to your scrapping needs? Is there anything you would like to see? PDW May Color Challenge Mini-Kit

Thanks to all of ya'll for the well wishes, I am slowly but surely getting better, this morning my foot actually resembles a foot and not a football. I rigged up a lapdesk so I could work on my laptop while keeping my foot elevated, so that I could at least try and catch up with some of my scrapping stuff. This months swatch at Plain Digital Wrapper is kinda on the bright side. Well, okay, it's REALLY bright. Like NEON bright. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but hey, that's why it's called a challenge, right? Grab your sunglasses and enjoy! PS... Grab A Cocktail...

Okay, a not so quick recap of my topsy turvy life...not an excuse by any means, but just to let ya'll know why I have been incognito as of late. Of course ya'll know that the first quarter of the year is pure de heck for me. As if that wasn't enough, I got the bright idea to install new POS software for both of our stores in mid March. What was I thinking?!?!?! This has resulted in many many weeks of 60+ hours, because I have to do so much stuff after the stores are closed. Not to mention that the folks in our Lufkin store are technically challenged(and I am being really nice here). Everyday they spend about two minutes screwing up stuff that it takes me two HOURS to fix. Then our headquarters store was broken into, and the jerk trashed my office, so I spent days sorting through mountains of paper in an attempt to restore semi-order. I mean, my office may be a pig sty, but I know EXACTLY where everything is, until some crackhead comes in and turns everything upside down. And....to top it off, the idjit only made away with $15.37 in change, a flashlight and a beer. Hello?!?!? Did you flunk robber school or what?
Okay, so I am pretty stressed out by now, and I haven't been to the casinos since February, so when I get the invitation to a VIP party on May 08 I am on it like white on rice. Yeah buddy, I need to go make a contribution to the Lousiana economy. OMG, the dinner was shrimp and crab and more shrimp and crab, and oh yeah, some shrimp and crab. See, I am like Forrest Gump here, I like shrimp everyway there is, so I am in HEAVEN! I promptly made an utter pig of myself, never thinking of the consequences. Ya see, I am prone to gout, and as much as I love it, seafood is a big NO-NO. So Wednesday night around 2:00 AM I must have turned a certain way in the bed and let me tell ya, I probably jumped about two feet off of the mattress. Yep, I have incurred a major gout attack from my shrimpfest. The pain was so bad that I actually left work at 2:30 Thursday afternoon. For a major workaholic to leave early ya know it's gotta be bad. I have always dealt with a gout attack by natural means(cherries and pineapple) but this time it's not working so well. The catch-22 is that the doc can't start any prescription meds until the acute attack is past. So...to make a long story short, I can hardly stand to sit at my desk or work on the computer because I am having to keep my foot elevated above my head, and I am seriously thinking I need to invest in a Rascal or Humarround.

One word to explain my absence...IRS. Well, actually, we can't blame it all on the IRS, I got the bright idea to change the software system for both of our tire stores in March. Come Down My Garden Path

I have a new kit up in the store! I call it "Garden Path", and it's a little different from my usual, it was created to give your LO a hand cut paper pieced look. It includes 12 textured papers and 47 elements, not everthing is shown in the preview. Available exclusively at Plain Digital Wrapper. I ended up with a few extra papers, and then yesterday Jodiann sent me a surprise! I had searched high and low for a style to give a chalked type edge, and I had asked her if it was possible, 'cause she is a whiz with styles. Lo and behold, she sent me these fabulous styles with such a terrific name, Chalkies:Vicki's Beach. Does she know me or what, lol! I started playing around with them last night and had a blast!These are the smooth styles, she is working on a textured set, but it's easy to add a little texture after you apply the style. I just love the soft chalked edge these styles give, pick 'em up for yourself this Friday and see what I mean. March PDW Color Challenge!

This month's color swatch at Plain Digital Wrapper was a whole lot easier on the eyes, not to mention being SOOO much easier to work with! I didn't work with a theme, so this is kind of a general all purpose kit. I did chunk in some shamrocks at the last moment, though! I hope ya'll enjoy! One thing I need to explain, the green chipboard frame started life as a full size page frame, and I meant to resize it for ya'll, but I got sidetracked and forgot. So don't be shocked when this huge 12x12 frame pops up. Use it as a page frame, or resize it to your liking.

WooHoo!!! How's this for early? Kim gave us a nice springy swatch for this month, so expect lots of Easter in this month's DSO Color Challenge. I tried really hard not to, but I couldn't help chunking an Easter egg in mine. I used stuffies from Kim's new Spring CU collab Bag with Bunny, and the fabulous styles that I used on the butterfly and the Easter egg are from fellow Texan Jodiann Cates. This gal is a whiz at creating amazing styles!

Another Clustering Tip and a Sneak Peek

Sue asked if I could explain more about what I meant by triangle placement, so here is a pretty good example. When you start to build your cluster, keep a general triangle shape in mind, or while you're practicing, you could even place a shape in your document and delete it later. Looking at this cluster, you will notice I started out with (3) ferns for the 'bones'. I then added the ribbon bow and (5) assorted flowers. A scattering of the purple flowers added between the ferns and the main flower elements adds the finishing touch. I hope this helps, I'm not very good at writing tuts, so if ya'll have any more questions just give me a holler!

Cluster Template and an Attempt at a Tutorial

I've had several requests to do a tut on clustering. I am a firm believer in learning by doing, so I learned a little something for myself, and created my very first template to help ya'll along! Clustering is a skill that comes with practice, but I hope this helps to get you started!

Okay, ya'll...I've had multiple requests on help with clustering, so I'm going to attempt a small tutorial. Sorry, no screen shots, I'm not that professional, lol. I have however created my first template to help you get an idea of placement. Let's have a big woohoo for the Vickster! I decided to make this template, because that is really a great way to learn. Keep in mind that there are a million ways to approach this skill, but this is the way I do it. Like any skill, it takes practice. Here are the basic principals that I use. Play, play, play and before you know it you'll be clustering like a maniac! Once you get the swing of placement, you will develop an eye for it and can fly on your own. I can't say it enough, practice, practice, PRACTICE!
For me, the basics needed for clustering are: an assortment of long ribbons, strings, foliage, some scatter and a large variety of elements. If I'm looking to purchase a kit and it has all of these, that really blows my skirt up! Just to be clear, this tut is using PSE. Allthough I have CS4, I find that I do 99.9% of my scrapping in PSE, it's just too easy,lol. Open up your photo program, open up your kit, and let's get to clustering! If you're using a template, open it up in your photo program. If not, create a new document at 12 x 12, 300 dpi transparent. Squinch both into a small window. Look in the kit's elements and start dragging interesting stuff into the bin. Heck, sometimes I end up with everything in there! I find it's helpful to start with a light colored background paper, (you can change this later) so find one and drag it into the photo bin. Place your background paper in the document/template. Now let's find the 'bones' of our cluster. I like to start with a long swirly ribbon or foliage. Place in document. Now add some ric-rac(or more ribbon) and some string.Twist, turn and rotate till it looks good. Next, drag in a frame and place it, using the rule of thirds (or on template). Now let's add some stuff! Remember, elements are best clustered in odd numbers(3-5,etc...). When making a frame cluster, i like to use a triangle placement, sometimes it may be really a really woppy one, but it's still a triangle. Here's where it gets tricky, when using the same element over again, remember to change size and rotate. Continue to place your various elements, and then add some scatter behind (scatter is SO cool, and adds the perfect touch!). I don't add shadows until I am through tweaking the placement of everything.

February PDW Color Challenge

Talk about a challenge!!!! The colors for this swatch really tried my patience. I tried the beach theme as suggested, but I just couldn't make it work. There was no way I could tone down that hideous neon blue and lavender, and the red was out of the question. Three colors have to be used for it to count in the challenge, so I picked the pink and the taupe and added just enough of the purple to get by. I sure hope the March colors are more 'user friendly', this is supposed to be fun!

Rustic Warmth

It's A Manly February

I had two suggestions for the color swatch this month, Simona wanted a "man kit" and Sue got even more specific, lol "guys' kit with fabric/grungy/fabric-textured papers - plaid, striped, ropes, chains, strings, chicken wire or chain link fences, cardboard, more "tough" elements and papers".
This one is for the two of you. To tell the truth, once I got started with it, things came together really easy. I still have some ideas knocking around, so there is a good possibility of leftovers this month.
For the solid papers I used Kristine's rocking new texture plate bundle. She so kindly RAK'ed me with it, and let me tell you, they are fabulous! The bundle is stuffed with 25 different textures, including brick, wood and fabric. At .32 each, it's a heck of a deal!

Yeah, I'm thoroughly ashamed of myself for being such a bad blogger, but believe me, it's not like I have been lolling around on a beach drinking margaritas. Now ya'll don't go gettin' spoiled, but I have another Color Challenge kit ready this week! Lisa at Plain Digital Wrapper came up with this warm and cozy color scheme. She calls it "Make Me Hot", lol. Now I'm sure that this brings all kind of images to mind, but I tried to narrow it down to something that I could put on the blog, BWAHAHAHA!!! You know how when it's cold outside it feels so good to snuggle up under an afghan with a big cup of coffee (preferably with a generous splash of Bailey's)? January 2010 Color Challenge Kit

I've gotta tell ya'll, for somebody that is a pink freak, this month's color challenge was for some reason a real challenge for me. I couldn't begin to tell ya'll how much stuff I worked for hours on and then trashed. Finally, this morning I decided see what I could come up with, since it was 16* outside and there was nothing much else to do. Now I know that to a lot of ya'll these kind of temps are the norm, but for me, a dyed in the wool beach bunny, anything below 60* is pushing it. I'm ready to pack up and move to Costa Rica, lol. Our high yesterday was 26*, at 7:00 AM it was so flippin' cold that the telephones froze. Yes, you read that right, the PHONES froze. Excuse me...just where is this global warming happening???? To explain...
The Comdial system is installed out in the warehouse behind my office. About 7:30 I realized it had been awfully quiet, usually the phones are ringing off the wall nonstop. I went and reset the system, but NADA. I grabbed my cell and was digging for the phone guy's number when it occured to me that electronics are supposed to be kept in a semi-warm atmosphere. I took my under desk heater out and plugged it in, and pointed it at the phone console. Less than 60 seconds later the danged phone was ringing like crazy. So...I sacrificed warm legs for six ringing phone lines that drive me bonkers. What is this world COMING TO? Somebody just tell me what I've done to deserve this, and I swear I'll never do it again.

Anyway, I digress...if you have read this far you deserve a gifty! Without further ado, I give ya'll my take on Kim's swatch for January 2010. I have included a clustered 'page starter', you can pretty much drag it onto your paper, add a photo, title and journaling and have yourself a LO! It is preshadowed, remember that I do my shadows at 45*, so if you use it and want to add anything else to your page change the direction of any shadows you apply to 45*.

Howdy, everyone! I know I've really been scarce around here lately, but believe me, amongst the bedlam that is my life these days, I haven't forgotten ya'll. With 90% of my shopping completed on Black Friday, I fell into that false sense of security and coasted halfway through December. Yesterday it dawned on me that I have to get my rear in gear! Knowing full well that the rest of this week will be a frenzy of shopping, wrapping and baking I figured I better get the December Color Challenge done or it would be after Christmas before I found time to work on it. The colors this month looked kind of old fashioned to me, like stuff you might find in your Granny's attic, so that was the general direction I took. Have fun playing!

Christmas First, Big News and a Giftie!

Just in case ya'll have somehow missed it, I have to tell you about Kim B's newest masterpiece, "Christmas First". This kit is just flippin' amazing! It has a huge selection of elements, all new and original, including lots of ribbon and string, and the most gorgeous papers! I can't remember the last time I created so many pages from one kit, and evidently I'm not the only one, this kit has taken the DSO gallery by storm! Best of all, Kim has it on sale now for $3.90! I guarantee that it will be money well spent. I already have four LO's completed and two more in the works. That's .65 per LO! Now, don't think that just because it has Christmas in the title that you can only use it for Christmas pages. Nay, nay, my friends... just take a looky at the 50th anniversary page I created. Oh, and a little toot on my horn, this page was selected as a Gallery Standout at DST. Woo-hoo!!!

What did I tell 'ya? I LOVE it when you can get so many different looks from one kit! And yes, I made ya'll a quick page from it, which brings me to the BIG NEWS! Somebody pinch me, I must be dreaming, it finally happened! Yep, the fabulous Kim B has invited me to join her CT! I almost fell out of my chair when I read the email! November Color Challenge Kit

WhooHoo!!! It's only the 10th of the month and I've got it done! I got off to a real slow start, but this past weekend Mr. MoJo showed his shining face and I came up with this. I still have some ideas, so maybe we'll have leftovers this month. There are six textured papers, four ribbons, two flower clusters (shadowed version included), two glitter spills, a glittery flower swirl, embroidery hearts, a silver embroidered heart swirl, a paper frame, a silver butterfly frame and the curled edge cardboard. I also included a large version of the silver swirly frame so that you can use it as a page border, or scale it down and use it to frame a photo. I hope ya'll enjoy playing with it!

BTW...if you use anything that I have preshadowed and want the rest of the shadows on your page to match, I use a 45* shadow.

Vicki Parker has the cutest new kit in her store at Scrap That Idea this week. It's called "Oh Boy!" and has all kind of stuffies to make some terrific dude type pages. In fact, that's what I was intending to do, I had already started a page using a lot of blue and green. Then I received an email with these photos of Natalie in her little pumpkin costume. So 'ya see, it's not only for boys!

HaHaHa!!! I 'm posting on a weekend AGAIN! Every once in a while we need to shake up the 'ole blog! ROTFLMFAO!!! I'm just so excited over this new kit I found I couldn't wait. It's called "The Whisper About Fall" , it's from Natali Design at Scrapbook Graphics and it is absolutely FABULOUS!!! Here are a few pages I've done with it, I definitely see some more in my future!

I've 'gotta play catch up here and show ya'll some of the kits I've been playing with. These are both available at DSO. Take a look and get some inspiration! First up is "Soft Whisper" from Kim Broedelet. The first page is from our Disney trip, Lilly was so tired. (I am slowly but surely slogging through all of my photos from the trip!) The second page is features my son Dave, his wife Jana, and our newest little princess Natalie. The next kit is "Dream Project" from LP&3Dogs. LO #1 is of Matt the Brat and his trusty steed at Panther Creek Ranch. LO #2 is an old photo taken at my Memaw and Papaw's 50th anniversary party. Both of these kits would be wonderful for heritage LO's, but as you can see they are really versatile and are great for any type of page you want to create.

October Color Challenge Kit

Yep, I've got it done early this month! Kim's hubby Wayne picked the swatch this month, and I found it to be a little tricky. As much as I love pink, I just couldn't make it work with the rest of the colors. It's a good thing we only have to use three of the colors from the swatch! Not everything is shown in the preview. This kit includes nine textured papers, three paper borders (one layered), three frames (two clustered), two fringed paper mats, two journal strips (one stitched, one stapled), two swirly strings, two hanging doodads, a staple and a piece of tape. For the clustered items, I included a version with custom shadows.

Heartsong

Kimbob has a gorgeous new kit out called "Heartsong". If you hurry you can nab it for only $2.00, but it goes back to regular price at midnight tonight, so git goin'...While it is absolutely perfect for wedding and anniversary photos, ya'll know me, I had to take it out of the box. The first LO is a photo of Natalie's tiny hand in David's. The second LO features one of my all time favorite photos of Wyatt and Lilly. See what I mean, it's great for baby pics, too!
To answer the font question, I used CK Renaissance on the "Tiny Hand" LO. I use it a lot, it looks really great on heritage pages, too.

September Color Challenge Kit

I know, I know...it's the end of the month, but I thought I would go ahead and share with ya'll what I came up with for the September Color Challenge at DSO. It's not my usual cram packed extravaganza, but I just ran out of time! There are eight textured papers, two cluster frames, stapled journal strips, a flower cluster, a beaded border, some tied twigs and a ribbon.

Also, I have included versions with and without custom shadows on the clustered items. Is this something that ya'll want?

I have had the chance to play with a new kit from LouCee's Creations over at DSO and boy howdy, did I have fun! It's called "Freshly Picked" and as you can see from my two LO's, it's a very versatile kit. I love it when you can get such different looks from the same kit, it really makes your hard earned money go further, KWIM?

The first LO is some photos from Disney (I am slowly but surely wading through the hundreds that I took) and the second page features...ME! See, my Mom loved the foo-foo, too! LOL!

Funky Blue Jeans and a little gift!

I'm feeling really guilty about being such a bad blogger lately, so I have a little gifty for ya'll today. I also managed to start on the September Color Challenge kit, so stay tuned!

About a year ago when Vicki Parker had her CT call, she had everyone use her "Blue Jeans" kit. Well, she has updated it, and decided to put a new spin on things. We were asked to use our original photo and rescrap it. It was so cool to see how everyone's styles have changed!

Andrea's Bag and Jill's Bag (and a very bad day)

Good Golly Gertie, everything is a mess at the moment. The boss has been out all week and is having an emergency appendectomy as I write this. What this means is that not only am I doing my job (which I am never through with, ya'll have seen pictures of my office) but I am doing his too. Not only that, but today was my birthday and I had planned to take off at noon, get my hair cut, do some shopping and just have some ME time. Needless to say, my plans went down the drain. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complainin', I'm just 'splainin'. This poor man (who is the best employer anyone could ever ask for) called this morning and said "I'm going to try and get to the store this afternoon, there is too much to be done." I have to tell ya'll, he sounded like hammered sh*t and had been in the emergency room from midnight till 3:00 AM. The foreign doctor that was on duty sent him home without doing any blood work or a CT scan, telling him he had a gastro infection. Dang, I'm a nursing school drop out and I know better than that. After much discussion, I convinced him to call Dr. Yummy not his real name, just really descriptive (Greg's college roomie) who told him to be in his office PRONTO! At first Dr. Yummy thought Greg's appendix had burst, but a scan showed different. He scheduled surgery within the hour.

I tell ya'll all of this to explain why this post is SOOO late. Without further ado, I give you some more Bag Week peeks, the first is a LO done with Andrea's Bag of our Chef Mickey dinner gone wrong and the second is of my oldest son Dave decked out in everything possible camo using Jill's Bag and Bunny's Open Spaces templates. Whew! I think I finally have all of the bag week posts done (this one nearly did me in!), remember to get yours before the end of the day FRIDAY!

I have Grandparent's Day at Wyatt's school tomorrow, and Lilly's third birthday party is Sunday at noon, anyone have any suggestions on when I could possibly fit in any quality Vicki casino time?
